#6965 Small Pony Barrel Works x 2 Crows The Briny Deep (Canada) I remember back when we did the pod with Sean at the brewery in like 2018, and he said they were planning on doing some stouts but he didn’t know when. Well, here we are, and best believe he didn’t just make like one stout and leave it at that. Oh no. Sean delivered four barrel-aged stouts, each a collaboration with an incredible brewery, and I’m starting with the East Coast collab with 2 Crows. Coming in at a whopping 14%, this is an imperial dessert stout aged in bourbon barrels with sea salt and caramel. It pours like motor oil with an espresso head and a chocolatey, oaky nose, the body is hella thick with bitter dark chocolate, salt and sticky toffee hitting up front, there’s some underlying vanilla from the barrels alongside subtle bourbon, it’s super sweet yet easy to drink, wrapping in a boozy, chocolate, salty finish.
