More interaction between the cast, specifically I’d focus on having a lot of bonding after Jupiter Lighthouse in TLA and Izumo in DD, 1) within the entire group, 2) in small groups of characters that don’t interact much in-game but could have really interesting conversations, such as Mia and Jenna-and-Sheba, Piers and Ivan, Kraden and Garet (and Isaac), Rief and Amiti, a whole string of conversations with character development between Amiti and Eoleo… Tales-style skits. That’s all I’ve ever wanted from GS.

ok if i’m real I would have put waaaaay more focus on Mia, Alex, and Mia and Alex. She’d ask where he is, talk with the TLA group about him, sass and diss him all the time. Right after Jupiter Lighthouse, an entire skit solely about Jenna and Sheba dissing him like usual, Kraden going “uhm maybe tone it down we have his cousin with us now”, and Mia jumping in and being 500% more savage than both of the others combined.

GIVE MIDORI A NEUTRAL ROUTE WHERE YOU CAN BEFRIEND THE DEMONS. Come on, it’s such an obvious option. You can’t expect me to believe that Frosty is the one and only demon she could win over, especially when Law 8th Day establishes that demons can learn to help others with the right guidance and demons like Kresnik are already happy to establish peaceful partnerships. :|

Remove Gin tbh. Let Haru investigate Aya’s disappearance on her own, as the one goal she clings to to stay alive for. Instead of her trying to pull a suicide by cop, she goes willingly into the Shomonkai’s trap to at least know what happened to her, whatever it might cost her, and you have to help her. Spread the rest of his former screentime among the rest of the cast for more development opportunities.

Give Mari a stronger presence in the Chaos 8th Day. Both of them. She deserves at least a couple of scenes where she gets to interact primarily with Atsuro or Naoya, instead of just Kaido, and she absolutely deserves to get to stay on the murder path. also you should be able to put Kresnik on her team and get a bonus scene, I am just saying

I don’t necessarily think the way canon handled it was bad, but if it were up to me, I would have definitely made it clear that Protag is Abel’s reincarnation and the angels alternate between downplaying this fact and feeding into it to manipulate him.

XY:

Tripokalon doesn’t exist. Serena finds interest in making Pokévision movies; her arc consists in slowly figuring out why they’re not very popular. She recognizes Sana at the professor’s Camp and they strike a friendship, Sana watches her stuff and gently tells her “uhm, why are your videos all about you and not about Pokémon?”. Trova gives her a few pointers on the technical aspect. She works her butt off and is always recording battles but also daily life (one of her first popular videos is simply the group having lunch time) and studying other people’s Pokévisions; a running gag becomes that she starts taking notes of ideas at the most random times, including when Team Rocket attacks (at least one video involves TR, and relies on the fact that they’re predictable enough that Serena could storyboard a scenario about them). She eventually makes it to the national big competition with a movie about how Fokko and their relationship evolved and changed since the start of the series; it passes the first round of voting before losing. Sana makes it to the final. Ends bittersweet, frustrated but motivated to work even harder and super-proud of their achievements so far. Serena decides to go study movies in Pokéwood studios in Isshu (maybe they go together??), and in a special, she meets Luke (who, of course, speaks about a movie he made last year with friends, without ever mentioning Satoshi’s name) and makes a movie with him starring Zoroa and Tairenar as a duo of kickass princesses.

The Flare storyline is resolved in a fifth spin-off Act, which ends with doubleagent!Pachira and Carnet destroying Fleurdelys, Daigo and Alan figuring out technical mega-energy stuff, and Puni-chan saving Hari-san in return. In XYZ, the main group meets Manon and Hari-san at the League because she’s participating (……with Puni-chan in her team??), Platane and his newly-back assistant Alan are here to cheer on everyone. The Satoshi-Gekkouga storyline is totally scrapped, or perhaps transferred to Sanpei.

The person who randomly shows up last minute and wipes the Kalos League tournament is Iris, as training for becoming GL. She confesses she’s kindof aiming for Champion in a few years. Kibago is still a Kibago but she destroys Pikachu and Trova’s Mega-Lizardon Y with Mega-Gaburias (Mega-Lizardon got Kairyuu, but Kairyuu beat a Tsunbear fair and square at some point), and possibly Manon’s Fla-chan with Doryuuzu.

Shouta was introduced in like episode 10, is a beginner and gets Satoshi to go senpai on him, which Satoshi fails a lot at in the beginning but takes seriously and happily. Satoshi is thrilled when Shouta beats him, means he’s a good teacher!! the goal then becomes to beat him back.

SHIGERU CAMEO. My favorite idea is still: Shigeru pops up, Serena points at him in silent scream, he goes “ohhh you’re hat girl!! I Remember.” and we see the direct follow-up to the Sere->Sato childhood flashback, namely: Satoshi got them lost again instantly and Shigeru had to find them, scolded them both for getting lost, dragged Satoshi away by the hand, and Serena never got a single minute alone with Satoshi again for the entire camp because Shigeru was being his attention-whore bossy diva childhood self. He haunted Serena’s nightmares for months.Then they actually talk, and she realizes Shigeru changed a lot since then, and come to think of it so did Satoshi… and so did she, she’s not a timid little girl anymore, and it’s ok to not be in love with the little boy from her memories anymore.Satoshi is completely oblivious to the entire process.

I understand why it couldn’t be but if I could make the original Plasma plot happen like it was meant to, I’m sure it would have been amazing. would involve romantic and terrifying N-and-Satoshi ferris wheel moment, Satoshi yelling at Ghetsis and saving His Friend N, the Goddesses actually doing shit, and either zero Dark Trinity, either a lot of them in ways that never make it impossible that they’re the Sanyou brothers. I probably wouldn’t have gone all out and made Dent explicitly one of them, though, but… you know, discreet hints, subtle implications that Dent had a whole morality crisis behind the scenes and eventually decided to betray Ghetsis and quit and stay with the kids and protect them, all of this quietly offscreen.

make Cheren and Bel know each other???? that change from the games made me super sad…

The 5 changes one? Sure, it’s fun so I’m definitely open for more prompts!. :> Though I’ve only played So Long My Love, so that’s gonna be my focus.

Okay, first I would... completely change Diana’s character arc. As I understand it, she’s only sick and paralyzed because her Pneuma is so powerful that she’s super sensitive to death, and her resulting negativity basically makes her powers destroy herself? But then she’s still dying even after having her change of heart, even though she can magically walk again? There’s a bunch of inconsistencies in her chapter and romantic arc that really don’t work for me at all.

SO INSTEAD. She’s still sick and paralyzed, but rather than her exceptional Pneuma killing her, she’s actively using it to keep herself alive. She can’t join the team because she’s scared that if she loses focus and starts using any of her powers for other things, she won’t live much longer. Her one exception is using her powers to heal her bird friends - that’s how much she cares about them. Her chapter would still be about her struggle to live, and her reluctance to trust others after spending so long surviving with only her own strength. The happy ending is: when she does decide to fight, the birds she healed with her Pneuma come to her aid, returning the bits of power she gave them and helping to refuel her. Inspired, Shinjiro leads the team in doing the same, and share their own Pneuma with her so she doesn’t destroy herself. It’s an imperfect solution - she’s still sick and needs a wheelchair afterwards, and has to rely more on medical science to compensate, but she’s hopeful. Her friends all work to share her burden, and Diana starts studying medicine herself to some day find another cure for her illness.

OTHER THAN THAT, I’d give some more information on Subaru’s back story in her route. Not a lot - Subaru wouldn’t offer that information easily - but enough to establish that they’re estranged and the ‘why’ is related to Subaru’s identity issues, or maybe how they felt about working with Ratchet. That kind of small thing would go a long way.

Geminine remains present and active even after her and Gemini’s chapter. It isn’t fair that after a chapter establishing that she’s longed for a life of her own and her motivation is avenging the one person who saw her as an individual, she totally disappears outside of Gemini’s occasional musing.

Stop... everyone’s misgendering of Subaru... I don’t know how much is the translation’s fault (since at least the gendered pronouns were totally absent in Japanese), but it doesn’t matter. Stop it all. :T

I still stand by my ‘the Friendship Cup arc would have been 500% better if Gongenzaka had beaten Crow in the first round’ post.

We didn’t need a Heartland arc at all, but if we had to have one, Sora needed to participate in it and see firsthand the kind of damage Academia did and how he contributed to that. It would have been a perfect chance to give him and Shun an actual reason to go from bitter enemies to actual teammates.

Crossover characters weren’t a bad idea, but this is not their show and they should not be main characters. The cast is huge enough as is, and the Arc V original characters needed the time and development that was instead given to characters who have their own shows already.

Either give Reiji an actual arc where he learns to treat other people like humans with agency, or make him a dang antagonist like everything he did in the Standard arc set him up to be. Most of the cast suffers from a similar problem of spending huge chunks of time isolated/off-screen and yet are presented to the audience like there’s still magically been character/relationship growth anyway, so none of the leg work needs to be done, but it’s worst with Reiji because he was so awful to so many characters, and it’s just straight up is treated like a non-issue.

First of all, Lari lives. As much as I appreciate the message of ‘even after losing the person most important to her, Yvienne can still find a reason to live’, it’s completely underminded by the fact that it was all Krohiten’s master plan and got everything he wanted in the end despite being the worst person.

As for the how: keep the time skip arc and Yvienne’s journey back to the past to save her, but condense that chunk of the story a great deal. Make it clear that this is a ‘bad ending’ timeline, due to Krohiten only focusing on his own issues and not taking into account Tenial/the ancient king’s spirit/that whole subplot. January is still captured by the king, but ultimately this version of history ends with January destroying the world with his spell after finally breaking from the manipulation and pressure. Juxtapose this scene with Yvienne in the past, finally reaching and saving Lariatte, and bringing about a new future with her own will.

…From there the story would need a whole new final arc, which would probably be too many changes and details to list in this meme. XD So intsead, some changes I’d have wanted regardless: Give Octavia a bigger role in the second half of the story! Have her reunite with Daughter and realize they’re related! Have her actively participate in overthrowing Tenial and putting January on the throne!

Tie in Yvienne’s story more closely to January’s and give them the chance to talk again. Really, give more time for character interactions in general, the whole ‘second half’ of the series ran way too quickly and the character/plot balance was way out of whack, even after it got an extra volume.

LET KROHITEN FIND OUT DAUGHTER IS HIS ACTUAL CHILD. IT’S THE ONE THING I STILL CARED ABOUT REGARDING KROHITEN AND THERE WAS ZERO CLOSURE???

Everyone knows ‘same-sex S Supports’, but I’ll say it again anyway. Should’ve had same-sex S Supports, at the very least in the second generation when having kids isn’t even an issue.

The balance between serious and campy fun in the supports and writing in general was kind of off. With as many supports as everyone had, there should have been more addressing backstory and character motivations, and less reliance on the personality gimmicks, especially since so few characters had actual involvement in the story.

The actual story of Awakening was all over the place, to the point it’s hard to think of just a couple changes that would have improved it? But thinking of it from a gameplay/story integration way: go all out and include the Deeprealms as part of the actual plot. While Chrom was distracted fighting Gangrel, Grima’s cult spent that time collecting everything necessary to seal Grima away and cast them into the Deeprealms, where no ordinary human could follow. Rather than a princess, Say’ri is Tiki’s priestess/guardian, and informs Chrom after the time skip about her mistress waking up. Since Tiki can commune with Naga, she can help you find the stones for the Fire Emblem scattered throughout time and space, and guide you through the different worlds.

That’s how you meet the children characters - you run into/save them on your missions to find the stones, and afterwards they decide to go with you, to prevent anyone else’s world from unfolding the way their own did. This would also save S supports from jumping right into marriage from A supports, since the kids’ aren’t directly from the future anymore, and could’ve allowed for some wiggle room on things like the kids existing despite same-sex S Supports or one/both parents permadying.
