A snarl left his maw as he turned around to face whoever had made such a comment to him. Sure, he had a rough past and he had been gone for a number of years at this point, but if there was anything Steele didn't take kindly to, it was someone trying to mock him in such a way. He was already prepping himself for a fight with whatever hound had made such a comment, to fight for his pride, but as he began to realize who exactly had made the comment a small grin began to spread across his face.
The brashness of such a comment being made to him from someone else might have surprised him in the past, but because the comment had actually come from Balto's own daughter, he knew he was in for a treat on this one. As he glared her down, a small laugh came to form his lips as he approached her slowly, tail swishing angrily from side to side, but Steele himself was incredibly pleased with how these events had turned out.
After all, how could he not have expected something to come from the daughter of the same half-wolf, half-dog, that had basically ruined his career? Ok, to be fair, he had done that himself, but he wasn't about to live that down in any sort of capacity.
❝That's a bold claim coming from someone like yourself,❞ he snarled as he got up in her face and snickered very lightly at the comment. Sure, he was still not known to be the greatest guy around the town of Nome, but when he came back around every once in a while, he had to get his shots back in on those who he felt had betrayed him and torn his life apart. And Aleu was no exception to the matter, even if it was something that she probably should have been excluded from at the end of the day.
❝Just because Balto is your father, doesn't mean I can't beat you and the rest of your family in a race again. He left me for dead and he took away everything I had known when it came to being a sled dog,❞ he whispered harshly, ❝And what's even better is that he still ended up having some wolves of his own, never truly being able to escape that wolf-dog monocur.❞
By this point, it was clear that Steele's hatred here was going back toward Balto himself and not entirely at Aleu. While part of it was still directed her way, just because she had been the one to make the comment, he still blamed Balto for the biggest reason that a lot of the stuff that happened to Steele had happened. And, of course, that meant that Balto had swooped in and stolen the one Steele had loved and had children of his own. And that was something Steele hated.
❝I would recommend you watch what you say around me again before I tear you to shreds like I should have done to your father long ago,❞ he growled, ❝I'd hate for there to be any more drama between him and me.❞
