I don’t have a lot to comment on right now, as I have just started reading it, but it is very refreshing to see a Kashmiri story and a Kashmiri voice in the graphic novel format!

#TodaysLessonOnRacism Natalie Holloway, Tara Grant,, Holly Bono,, Laci Peterson, Chandra Levy and Gabi Petito represent missing person cases that became global when local and national media included stories and follow up daily then hourly. Unfortunately the missing women pictured we heard nothing about. Anywhere. They are still missing. @nbcnews has a web page titled Missing In America that selects what cases they report leaving women like this with no national support. The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) reported 220k Black, Asian, Latino and unidentified men and women were missing in 2020 yet we have seen or heard about none of them. Unfortunately every woman appearing on national news have been white. The #4thEstate (the media) was established as the moral voice of "the voiceless" yet no network has made room to broadcast missing women of color. #TodayOnThisDay Intellectual curiosity is an important part of a grounded reality-based, socially-informed experience. Thinking beyond what we see, hear and read reduces the negative influences of media, authors and journalists with specific agendas that sound logical and well put together but are detrimental to equality, social justice efforts and sometimes just plain grounded in racism and implicit bias. Often media journalists are less focused on informing the public and their prejudices than attracting attention for clicks and likes. That said I have found innacuracies and ommissions of fact in reporting, subtle bias, social agendas and a lack of concern for the impact on implicit social messages. That said, verifying news sources and facts is an important part of reading internet news stories. I'm reading this book st the moment, A Life Discarded by Alexander Masters, and it's just the most wonderful, strange, playful thing: a biography of an unidentified (at first) person whose lifetime diaries were rescued from a skip. Apart from my intense feelings of envy that I was not the one to find that glorious treasure, it's feeding so many different areas of interest: investigation, people watching, art, eccentricity.
