STUDENT Music Video PROJECT: My Mind by Yebba X Watchmen S 1 Ep 1
All materials sampled in this work are purely for creative non-profit purposes and will be removed at owner's request.Â
Exercise B: Music Video -  I have combined the song My Mind by Yebba and the opening scene from Watchmen (Season 1, Ep. 1) to create a music video.Â
I choose My Mind by Yebba due to the intensity and power of the song combined with her vocals. I find myself revisiting her moving performance (uploaded to YouTube in 2016) for an emotional release. In the same breath of intensity, the opening scene for the HBO series Watchmen is one of the most poignant sequences of the Tulsa Massacre. It took me watching this scene to realize I had never seen a dramatization of the tragedy, only grainy films of the aftermath. I wept upon seeing both the recording and the series. Thatâs what motivated me to combine the two for this project.Â
I can not stress enough - "all materials sampled in this work are purely for creative non-profit purposes and will be removed at owner's request.â

Vanishing and Becoming
Shadow of the Sun
Artist statement- Proj. 4: Vanishing and Becoming
For this project, I really tried to tie the aspect of something vanishing and becoming into every aspect. Starting with the song, I chose a song that metaphorically referenced an eclipse by actually references a blockage of light and a hope of return. I had the flower blossom and then fold back up. As well as used a few editing techniques that helped the overall video become and then vanish again. Honestly, I had a really difficult time with this project. I feel as though I really lacked inspiration for this project and on top of that I had a difficult time trying to make art with Adobe Premiere. I don't feel that I could portray what I wanted to portray without a bit more experience. Unfortunately, I think my lack of inspiration shows through on this project and I am pretty disappointed.Â
(could also be the feeling in the air.... after the election...)
If i could take this project further and make it longer, it might be interesting to do this same concept with multiple different flowers as well as use the whole song.Â

Reading #4
Projection: Vanishing and Becoming I really enjoy how this reading draws a direct line between a projection vanishing and becoming. It implies that a projection is both vanishing and becoming at the same time. I also really enjoy reading about the progress of art in terms of projection. I agree with the reading, that art has been used to create an impact that has a meaning larger than yourself, creating immortal meanings and therefore an immortal self. One thing in the reading however, that I did not connect with was the distinction of subject matter. It stated that in order for it to be a projection the actual subject matter must be absent. Personally, I think that the projection is still the subject matter, no matter how much it is distorted or abstract. I think the essence of the subject matter is the projection that you see, however, that same essence is what you would receive if the subject was shown or if you were in person. Time and Motion Time and motion in art are extremely important. The give extra dimensions to the understanding of any given artwork. I think that motion in art always will imply time. The motion, whether it be actual or implied, helps give the work a sense of movement and direction. As an artist thinking about the movement of a piece, the way something moves can really affect how the audience perceives the piece. The meaning would change whether it moved naturally, mechanically, or by the audience/artist. Likewise, I think time will always imply motion as well. However, I think that time, in art, can also represent the absence of motion. Time, being actual or implied, has the same impact on art as does motion. Again, when an artists is thinking of the time in a piece, how they choose to represent that is also very important to the meaning. The repetition of a segment of time or even the evolution of time and it's affect on the art can change the meaning very easily.
