"Do you miss your brother?" Ty's voice hardly carries over the crackling of the fire. Chase knows the words are for him alone, but he can't help but feel intimate in the quiet of it,

"I don't know if I'm allowed to." Maybe on any other night, with any other person, Chase would've lied. Said yes or no depending on what seemed like the correct answer. But Ty has linked their fingers and moved close enough that Chase can feel more warmth from him than the flame in front of them. He feels compelled to tell the truth.

Ty hums. Lets the words settle between them before Chase's own head spins from whatever that even means. Part of him misses Riley dearly. Another part of him fears what it means to miss him.

Curls brush against his cheek as Ty lays his head against his shoulder, "Why wouldn't you be allowed?" Words nearly lost once more,

"I haven't seen him in so long. He's probably changed so much and I've changed so much. We're barely even brothers anymore." It aches in his chest. The way he can perfectly visualize Riley's smile from the last time he saw him. His laughter, yells, whispers perfectly ingrained in his mind. Focusing on it helps distract from the way the rest of his family's faces have gone blurry in his memories,

"Do you miss him?" Ty's voice is laced with something deeper. Emotion that Chase feels like he's long forgotten, leaving him wondering if it's the same as when Victor has to leave for days at a time. His voice was always more monotonous but Chase never heard it that way. Not when Ty's touch burns across his skin and his words seem to choke in Chase's own throat,

"A lot," He doesn't cry, but it's close, "Everyday I think. I don't even know if he's alive," There's another small hum as Ty squeezes his hand, "I don't even know if I want to know."
