A 10.3-acre Bel-Air estate that was owned by A. Jerrold Perenchio, the late chairman of Univision, has hit the market as the most expensive home for sale in the U.S. Price tag: $350 million. Built in 1933 by architect Sumner Spaulding, the main, 25,000-square-foot main house could be seen decades later as the Clampett family’s new digs on TV’s “The Beverly Hillbillies,” Perenchio bought the estate, named “Chartwell,” in 1986. The billionaire hired lauded designer Henri Samuel, known for putting his mark on estates owned by the Vanderbilts, Rothschilds and Valentino, to revamp the place. The main house, inspired by 18th century French neoclassical design, includes a ballroom, “world-class” wine cellar, formal salon and a “period- paneled” dining room, according to a listing announcement. A 75-foot swimming pool and pool house, tennis court, manicured gardens and covered parking for 40 cars are found on the grounds. The estate was expanded to include a Wallace Neff guest house and other amenities.
