I love your characters and your way to show how they bond together. They are brothers!!!

I was absolutely delighted with the entire world-building and all the ideas insade. For that reason I was wondering about which were the inspirations for all that part.

Also, the playlist is really good and sets a good mood for reading the fic (Not so much when they're in "we're clingying togheter", I guess)

hmm I'm trying to remember where my inspiration came from for nocturnal animals... I'd seen a few vampire hunter ideas floating around in the fandom before, although the only fic I can think of off the top of my head that had a concept like that was orange light painted by the morning sun. tbh I read that fic like a year before I wrote nocturnal animals and never kept up with it after I got about 10 chapters in or something, but I just remember in the beginning there's something about tommy being a former vampire hunter and I think there was a reference to an academy? something like that maybe it's been a long time since I read it. I guess you could also say I kind of took (very) loose inspo from Tokyo Ghoul? just kind of in the way how ghouls are completely known about in the world while simultaneously not being permitted to exist whatsoever with organizations rising up to exterminate them, vampires are in a similar position in nocturnal animals. also the idea of blood dealers (and niki's bakery specifically) was somewhat inspired by anteiku in tokyo ghoul if you've read that manga/seen that anime

but besides those very loose inspiration threads I mostly just came up with things myself. I liked the idea of vampire hunters being trained and raised in a school-like academy and I thought it would be interesting to bring up the idea of vampire hunters recruiting trainees through methods similar to how in real life the military preys on high school kids who can't afford to go to college, though obviously it's way worse in nocturnal animals given that like. they are literal children when they're recruited into the academy.

One thing I was thinking about this ship is related with the cats having importance for both of characteres. Fit with all Madagio's lore, and Pac for being his favourite pet.

In Fit's case, it is a forced relationship. The cats are there as a reminder of Madagio (being an important element of their past). Fit has no choice, he just has to move on and ignore them if possible. Distrusts them, tends to worry if he sees one and is practically praying to any deity something like "Please don't be my boss, please don't be my boss".

In Pac's case, you can tell easily that he loves the cats. The gives them names, food, a good place to live, plays with them and gives everything they could need. Like... He saw Madagio (or a cat possessed directly by it, whatever) and his first thought was "Ramon! Look, um pequeno gato, que fofo!" *Tries to get the cat*

It's a hilarious contrast between their relationship with the cats. The best representation of this was when Pac told him about how he "pstsspssds" his boss. Fit was incredibly worried and Pac just like "So no more 'pstspsdtsps' for that cat? D: "
