Radical honesty: I’m struggling financially and emotionally (TLDR: See LINK IN BIO!) Earlier this year, I put everything on hold to focus on my mental health But, Spirit told me to stop sitting on my projects and being ashamed of this part of my story So here goes --- The Story: I haven’t had heat or hot water at home since Dec 2019 If you don’t already know: I live in Boston, it’s fucking cold, & I have seasonal depression Terrible mix Long story short: I bought my house in Aug 2018 to help my family My intuition said “nah, sis” because my marriage was drowning but I wanted to be “pragmatic” In Apr 2019, I separated from my now ex By Oct 2019, I lost my family’s support primarily due to queerphobia and other hate-masked-as-Christianity I was left to take care of my 16-year-old sister in a toxic house with nowhere else to go Before, and especially during, the separation I experienced financial abuse (and other forms) I also have so much debt from college and this home that I don’t qualify for a loan to replace/fix the boiler Sadly, I’m not “poor” enough for assistance programs but not privileged enough to have a co-signer That’s where I'm at today --- The Projects: In Aug 2018, I started working on healing myself because my mental health was declining I started grad school around then, researching how to lower barriers innovation/tech for our communities, launching Konbino in Oct 2018 with those results Next, I started practicing more self-care for resiliency to make it through my separation in Apr 2019 Then, in Dec 2019 when shit really hit the fan, I launched @comethru.sis to connect with and support others also struggling and in need of healing.
