"Vorrei capire" mi rispondo dall'interno, senza emettere parole.

Scissioni e contraddizioni. Sempre. Fronti opposti in perenne contrasto: dentro me, da sempre. E la risposta sta tutta qui racchiusa. Non c'è altro da capire: io sono impegnativa.

"Dovresti studiare" mi sussurro, stanca, da un esterno che proprio non mi piace.

One of my favourite things in the past three months was riding in the rain in Berlin, with no maps. My friend D let me use her bicycle. Her boyfriend was away for most of the time I was there, so when she needed a bicycle, she used his.

My geography of the city -- if you can call it that -- was based around the U-bahn lines. I need to get on the U1 and then at some point change to the U8. I gave the descriptions of where I’m at and directions to places I want to go to using the U-bahn stations as landmarks. 

“I’m coming from Mehrigdamm, and I’ll meet you at Boddinstasse,” is something I’ve actually said to a date I was meeting at a park for table tennis.

“Let’s meet at the intersection of Graefestrasse and Urbanstrasse,” a different date who never actually showed up for the table tennis date said to me another time.

The city looks completely different from the top than in does from the bottom. Turns out, some places are closer than I thought. And others were easier to get to from the bottom. Less fuss. And I was surprised to find out that some places are in a completely different direction than I thought.
