The timing chain replacement on Darwin will be the single most expensive repair I've ever had done, but really I've spent more on Blue Bitch over time, they're quoting below usual (they're Toyota specialists, they can do this in their sleep), in retrospect it was priced like it would need this in a year or two, and honestly it's a reasonable cost for another 100,000 trouble-free miles
Also I have finally heard that fabled tapping that tells me Darwin is due for the only service a 22R ever needs, the 100,000 mile timing chain replacement

Dang, owning a TOYOTA truck is super useful! My BRAND NEW 1995 extended cab 4WD Toyota pickup truck w 22RE 4cyl engine and manual transmission is suuuper clean and shiny. This is a vehicle that Toyota collectors and offroaders always search for because it had two manual gear shifters and the ultra reliable and bulletproof 22RE engine. Can you believe this truck was just driven all the way to Southern California from the MIDWEST?! It lived its entire life on a farm, and the original owner really took care of it!!!! πππ Oh, what a feeling!!! I just kinda wish it were red to match all the other Toyotas in my collection. LOL.
