Aston Martin One-77 hits 220mph

Aston Martin's One-77 supercar has already stunned with its looks, its price and its ambition. And now with its speed, having blitzed the 200mph benchmark and recorded 220mph in testing.
This stunning achievement shows impressive early pace for the all-new Aston Martin supercar and apparently already exceeds the expectations of the development team. Further dynamic testing will now follow.
Aston is pitching the One-77 into the same arena as ultra-exclusive, ultra high performance mega cars like the Bugatti Veyron and some of the more limited edition Pagani Zonda variants, such as the million-pound Cinque revealed earlier this year.
And though the Veyron is unlikely to see its 253mph top speed bragging rights challenged by the One-77 in many other respects the Aston is more than a match for the mighty Bugatti - not least in its rarity with just 77 examples expected to be built.
