also, i’m not a peter x carla hater because i understand the relevance that peter and their relationship had in carla’s story and i do think that he loved her in his own (terrible) way.
but let’s recap this whole storyline that i’m rewatching.
carla gets psychosis, peter helps her through it because he loves a damsel in distress, she has to go on meds that basically eradicate her sex drive. fast forward some time later, carla is better (but she’s still on psychosis meds) and peter feels like there’s a wall between them (because carla is not physically available anymore), so instead of talking with her he decides to bitch about their lack of a sex life with adam, get closer to struggling abi (because carla is right and he did miss some female attention) and disregard all of carla’s concerns. when carla’s predictions come true (abi makes a pass at him and he feels the need to drink again) and they inevitably fight, he throws in carla’s face that he was so kind to not make her feel bad when she slept with someone else while IN ACTIVE PSYCHOSIS and that it’s carla’s fault, anyway, if they’ve grown distant because she hasn’t been very welcoming (meaning, she hasn’t wanted to have sex) (with him, because she did have it with a random stranger) (it was rape, actually). so, she actually has no right to complain when mr. most selfless man on earth only wants to help her and all the other vulnerable women in weatherfield. and to top it all off, carla had to hear that basically she was the root cause of their lack of sex life and therefore relationship issues from ADAM. so, in carla’s true fashion, she convinces herself that it’s actually her fault (did nothing wrong in any part of this whole storyline) and she is overreacting, accepts cheap flowers from Peter and sleeps with him as a way to fix things. like, i’m so sorry that man deserved JAIL during this whole thing
