december challenge
I can’t believe it’s been a year already. The last twelve months seemingly lasted both a century and about three minutes. But here we are: the end of 2020, and my last self-improvement challenge of the year. I have to say, this project has been a really good idea - starting a new year trying to transform my life and my entire personality never got me anywhere. Instead, by deciding on monthly challenges, I did manage a few good changes in my life. I am now a vegan with a much cleaner house, and I practice my languages daily. Those are three things that became habits, and I’m very happy about it. But by far what changed my life the most was that one month I spent ‘without internet’ - ie, without any social media and restricting other online activities to specific times of the day. It’s incredible the effect that had on everything else. All of a sudden, virtually overnight, I was a much happier person and I spent any free time I had reading great books, trying out new recipes and even learning watercolour. I want to get back to that, so I’m giving it one more try: as my last challenge of 2020, I pick
no internet
again. To make it more sustainable, I’m deciding on news twice a day, random stuff after 6pm, and social media once a week. Happy December, everyone!
