Start video at 18:36 Fan: Hello. Uh, so this is really something small, and it might be nothing at all, but I was interested. Uh, one of my favorite episodes this season was the Nazi episode. Um, I thought that was great. But, there was one moment, um, where Aaron is flirting with Dean, um, and Dean does this thing with his FBI badge where he’s, like, holding it, and the camera zooms in, and it felt really significant (laughs) to me. So I wondered if that was a scripted thing like a CG- something by Ben Edlund or if it was an actual... Jensen: Um-

Fan: If you even remember. Jensen: The wallet thing? I remember I flipped a badge and…

Fan: Yeah, that’s the bit. Jensen: Um, but it was (laughs) it was, it was my idea to lay it down (mimics laying it down and slide it over) and to slide it over. Because I thought it was, you know, like, Dean was being kind of (chuckles) cheeky. And he’s like, “Hey pal, (mimics sliding badge and nods head), y’know, why you following me?” And, then when he, when he does the- the flirting thing, it was- it was a pull-back thing. (mimics pulling badge back) “Oop, stepped into that trap.” (audience laughs) (shrugs) That’s all it was.    And Phil- Phil laughed when I did it in rehearsal, and he’s like, “Yeah, do that do that.” Phil Sgriccia was directing and he was like, “Hey, do that, do that.” And he might have just put a camera on it because- Phil’s a- Phil is, comes from an editing background, so he shoots a lot of extra little bits and stuff so that he can play with it in the editing room when he gets- when he gets done filming. So I never know what, y’know, what’s gonna make it. I just- I just play the scene. And- and, uh, and Adam Rose who played Aaron was hilarious and-    The scene wasn’t written to be that kind of, um- I mean, it was- it was written to be awkward. Ben Edlund wrote the- my favorite line of that scene was, uh, “Carry on, citizen.” (Jensen and audience laughs) That was- I- uh, I almost couldn’t say that with a straight face, I was laughing so hard. Um, but it was, y’know, it- it was, it was comedy. It was- it was a comedic moment in the show and- and fortunately Dean gets a lot of the c- the- the comedic moments in the show. And- and it was just, y’know, Ben was poking fun at the fact that, you know, how can- how can we make this very kind of manly heterosexual guy uncomfortable. Uh, y’know, or- or, like have him back on his heels and throw him off his game a little bit.    And I think that was the- that was the full moment. It was just, “Let’s throw Dean off his game and see how he reacts.” And I think it was just the, y’know, you kind of walking into a situation that you think is going to happen, and then it’s a total opposite situation, and Dean was just like, uh- (looks down and stands up) “Uh, carry on, citizen” (mimics leaving fast) (audience laughs) An-(laughs)-d (turns around and returns to his chair) the stumble, that all- that wasn’t written. I just did that. It was just comedy. That was just for fun, yeah. But, uh, (sits back down in chair) yeah, Adam- Adam and I had a really fun time with that scene. That was really funny.

Fan: It was a great scene. Jensen: Yeah.

Fan: Uh, do you believe that Castiel is in love with Dean? (audience cheers and claps, a few groans) Misha: Interesting- interesting mix of groans and cheers there. I like that. Um- (audience yells yes and no) All right, either no or yes, if- if I’m doing a random polling right here. Um, what do you think?

Audience member: He’s in love with Meg! Misha: What? What did you say?

Audience members: Various fans yell out “He’s in love with Meg” and “Meg”, while others yell no Misha: (gets handed a phone from the previous question) Hold on, uh, table that thought. [Misha interrupts his response to take a phone call related to the previous question.]

Misha: (hands off the phone) Okay. (Walks over to talk to the fan again) Okay, so what do you think on this topic? Fan: I think he is completely, totally in love with Dean. Nobody else but Dean. (audience cheers)

Misha: (sits down) This is a very interesting topic, because it’s one that, um, that really upsets a lot of people in one way or another. Um… (long pause) Audience member: ‘Cause Dean’s in love with Sam!

Misha: What’s that? (audience laughs) Um, I have been weighing in on the- Oh! I... Hah, I- I probably shouldn’t talk about it, because I haven’t, um… I shouldn’t talk about it. Actually, that’s probably the right answer, right? Audience members: (Yell’s yeah and clap, while Misha takes a long pause)

Misha: No comment, please plead the fifth. I, um, I mean, there- there is a- clearly a very, very profound bond between the two. (audience responds positively) Um, and I will leave it to you to read into that what you will, um, because I don’t want to be accused of queerbaiting or any of these other things that I’m not doing. (audience claps and cheers) Audience member: Good answer!

Misha: So, I’ve- I have- you know (sighs) being at- doing something like this, you have the opportunity to, um, you know, reach a lot of people, and that’s a really gratifying and lovely experience. You also have the opportunity to very easily piss off a lot of people, and- (audience giggles) Audience member: Equally gratifying!

Misha: Um, yes, that can be lovely as well. (audience laughs) But I sometimes have to resist the temptation to engage and be like, “Hold on, you fuckers.” (audience laughs) Wait- that’s not what I - I mean, I - I and so I, uh, I went- I did a convention in, um, in um, I don’t know where... Seattle! And I don’t remember what I said, but so far as what was - what transpired - I don’t know what it was, but, um, people got upset and- and I feel like, uh, it was really... unfair (laughs), um, what was said, because I actually don’t think that... Uh, first of all I think that, that the- the term queerbaiting is n- not accurate. And, um, and I also- I don’t know, I- It pissed me off, because I- I feel like a real champion of that community with all of those letters. (audience laughs and cheers) um, and, you know, I’ve officiated gay weddings. I am, like, the- the last- I’m not a- I’m not- also, I don’t quite understand what the term means, queerbaiting.

Audience member: We love you too, Misha! Misha: Um, thank you! Um... 

Audience member: Maybe- maybe it’s brotherly devotion- Misha: One- I- (raising his voice) I have a single ally here, which is all I need. (audience cheers)

Audience member: Maybe- (audience cheers drown them out) Misha: But at the same time, you know, it’s, uh- it’s imbued with a lot of meaning for a lot of people in different ways, and there are a million different interpretations open. You know, it’s just like any, you know- I hesitate to call it an art form, but it actually is one. Uh, especially, when Ben Edlund is writing. And, um, and you know, I don’t know, I’m just, uh, flailing here, but um-

Audience member: Maybe it’s brotherly devotion that he didn’t get from the other angels. Misha: Yeah, I mean, it’s, it’s a lot of things. It’s- it’s... (audience yells yeah)

Audience member: It’s family. Misha: For me, it’s deep and meaningful and you know, is it love? Probably? Um... What does that mean? Um.. uh, it’s a million different things. I don’t know. (audience member yells something) Um, it’s certainly- at the very least, it’s a complex relationship, you know? Um, one of them is, uh, you know, uh, what does he call himself, a trans-something wavelength of-? What was that term? (audience yells answers) A celestial wavelength of something? Intent!

Audience member: Interdimensional wavelength of celestial intent!
