anyone remember when tumblr idols had like.. Honesty Hours? and like self-promos and giveaways? and it was like an open-house party on these people's blogs at all times, like runescape bank-standing. and like weird tumblr politics.. weirder than it is now. things like "like this post and i'll rate your blog!" and there was like a copypasta of text, and you'd just copy and paste and rate their tumblr theme [desktop], title, description, icon, url, colour scheme, music taste, etc.‽ like... ok lil jared letos

Definitely think the biggest blessing and curse of Tumblr is that... once a post, or art is out there, it’s.... OUT THERE. There’s no stopping it, sometimes. Which is a beautiful thing for art, you know! In this day and age of social media, art has a shelf life of Hours, if not minutes. Then, it is never seen again, unless someone goes looking for it. Twitter and Instagram is one of the biggest complains against this, especially instagram (Which i do not use, and yet people consider that wild of me).
But TUMBLR....
Tumblr, the notes never end. You can have something posted in 2015 suddenly gain popularity overnight and bring people to your blog. You’ll never know why, and you may have moved on from that fandom, but people are still here! All this traffic! From a 2015 post! Or EARLIER! How wild is that? The Shelf life of my art here is INFINITE. I never have to repost (but sometimes I do reblog), I just put something into the ether and it appears in someone’s lap when it is destined to. Not only that, but archives of people’s blogs are easily accessible. Ya’ll can just FIND this shit and reblog it if you want. It’s free advertising for me!
But yeah. Sometimes twitter is just... a mess. I know this, and yet I am still there (I have an audience there, just as I do here, though they definitely play to different strengths). But Tumblr, I can post art here and it is here... forever. And people will be able to find it whenever. What a freeing, but simultaneously terrifying, feeling.
