Highlight:

That idea of fashion feeling personal rather than performative is something Scott comes back to a lot. Especially as an Irish actor, where dressing well can sometimes accidentally become a personality trait. There's a slang in Ireland – “notions” – which basically means somebody who thinks very highly of themselves. Dress too loudly, speak too confidently, act a bit too important, and there's a good chance someone's mammy will accuse you of having them.

But Scott sees things a bit differently. “I think there's a mistake sometimes that fashion is about showing off,” he says. “I think it's more about embracing how you feel.”

The first official synopsis reads: A psychological thriller set in a seemingly idyllic huis clos, Fonda takes us on a vertiginous dive into the shifting limits of a sound mind, as grief and obsession take hold.

The Fonda of the title shouldn’t mislead anyone. It doesn’t refer to the American acting dynasty but instead to an institution central to the story...

Scott will play the Scottish actor and Colman his doctor in the movie written by Stephen Beresford and directed by Simon Stone for the studio, LD Entertainment, Lucky Red, and Magnolia Mae Films.

Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers, Ripley, Pressure) and Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown, The Lost Daughter) will star in Elsinore, a film based on the life of Ian Charleson, the Scottish star of the 1981 movie Chariots of Fire, whose final role was Hamlet in a celebrated London theater production. The movie comes from Canal+’s StudioCanal, LD Entertainment, Lucky Red, and Magnolia Mae Films.

Elsinore will start shooting in the U.K. on Jan. 5. It will also feature an ensemble of British actors to be announced closer to the start of production.

A synopsis describes the movie as a “powerful, deeply moving and inspiring true story of the actor Ian Charleson who faced incredible odds while preparing to give the performance of his life in Hamlet at the National Theatre in London.”

Scott will portray Charleson, while Colman will play his doctor. Charleson is best known for his starring role as Olympic athlete and missionary Eric Liddell in Chariots of Fire, which won four Oscars, including the best film honor. He also portrayed Rev. Charlie Andrews in the 1982 eight-time Oscar winner Gandhi.
