It was because of Luffy that the ship gained an extra guest in the presence of the brothers that the crew was eventually able to learn about. It had been a surprise to learn that their reckless captain actually had brothers even if they weren't biologically related, not that it made any difference to them. All of them could easily be considered orphans to the point of where they were raised by complete strangers who quickly became family to all of them. It was because of Zeff that Sanji was able to survive, it was because of Zeff that he was able to find his place after escaping from the place that was no longer a home to him. A place that was a never ending nightmare for him because of the pain that lingered within those walls, a pain that would be difficult for him to forget.

It was a place that the blonde hoped he would never return to, there was nothing, but painful memories there from the hands of his "father" and brothers. Reiju was the only one Sanji could bring himself to trust, she actually cared about him despite what their father had done to the four of them. Sanji was the only one who stayed normal. A side of him that his father and brothers saw as a weakness, saw him as a failure.

His crew thought otherwise though. They never saw him as weak, they never have seen him as a failure which had been thrown into his face many times. Especially when he was locked behind those gray, steel bars.

Focused on the task at hand, he was trying to wrap his head around what the next meal of the day was going to be especially since Luffy most likely would come barging in here demanding food like he normally does. It seemed that it wasn't Luffy who decided to come into the kitchen first while the normal antics of the crew could be heard outside the door. Had he taken the chance to try and get a breather from the chaos that was obviously happening out of the deck? Chaos that Sanji would most likely find out about eventually especially if he decided to walk out of that familiar door
