One Hour Jam 72 - 10th September 2016 Theme: Creation Role: Programmer and Artist

Make your own little cupcake and cover it with sprinkles!

This isn’t so much of a game as a cupcake maker, so you choose your case, then your icing, then decorate with sprinkles.

For a while I’ve wanted to make this kind of game, I want to make a cafe style game, where you make cakes or cookies or something for customers. So this is a prototype for that.

Over the next month or so there’s a jam called Freesource Jam in which you make a game with either sourceable assets or create assets and put them up for sale. So I’m going to make a larger version and sell the cupcakes as well the full game. That’s the hope anyway.

Dark and Stormy Night

One Hour Jam 74 - 24th September 2016 Theme: Two button control Role: Programmer and Artist

I ended up getting quite into this one, and completely ran over. But I like it :)

You control the lighthouse, which speeds up friendly boats while scaring away the pirates. As Talk Like A Pirate day was that week, I decided to go for that as a theme and I wanted something that wasn’t move and shoot for the controls.

After a bit of a think and a play I came up with a lighthouse that spins around shining a beam through the darkness. I did consider having a shooting mechanic, but then I would have either had to have the lighthouse constantly spinning or only go one way, and I’m not a fan of shooting people. So I went for “scaring” them away with the light. I couldn’t make them turn from the lighthouse so they just fade away.

I’m not terribly pleased with the art for this one, I’ve not done top down before and it was a little rushed. I think it’s alright though.

Blast off into space! Move using the arrow keys and blast the asteroids out of the way with the space bar.

I love the little spaceship, it’s super cute. I keep thinking of ways to monetise and make game assets etc, and I think some cute little spaceships and alien ships could be a nice thing to sell.

Hey!

J’ai bossé un petit peu mon HTML et mon CSS pour vous proposer une petite page recensant les jeux de la 1HGJ. Vous avez juste a cliquer sur la cartouche pour accéder à une autre page où le jeu est jouable. C’est vraiment pas grand chose, mais je me suis bien amusé à le faire. Il n’y a que 3 jeux pour le moment, mais la suite arrivera plus tard.
