[Dave] Grohl also put on his journalist cap, interviewing Robert Plant and Jimmy Page for Raygun magazine. "I was so nervous," said Grohl. "I stayed up all night, thinking of questions, then I sat down in front of them and choked. I knew that would happen. Jimmy was really sweet, and Robert was taller than I expected. I have this John Bonham tattoo on my wrist that I was scared to show them. But Robert noticed it. He looked at it in horror, so I just rolled down my sleeve."
The two groups made plans to meet up at a Rocket From the Crypt show, but an overzealous security guard failed to recognize Grohl and banished him from the club's VIP area.
Rolling Stone, 30 April 1998
Robert Plant: Jimmy and I are doing the Steve Albini press week.
Dave Grohl: Well, you guys picked the one producer that everybody loves to hate. I love him because he's such a fucking jerk. [laughs]
Robert: Actually, I've changed my mind about him now. I think you're right. [laughs]
Dave: Anyone that can grab their crotch from behind is okay with me. [laughs]
Jimmy Page: He's like the dad in the "Rugrats". [more laughs]
Robert: But without him, we wouldn't have made a great record. And I wouldn't have felt insecure for as long as I did. [yet more yucks]
