The late Helen DuBose, was a giant in the world of agriculture! “A granddaughter of a farmer, Helen was not only the first to graduate from college in her family, she was the first in her family since slavery to finish the 6th grade. Determined to get an agricultural degree, she received a bachelor's degree in 1941 from Florida A&M. Last week we attended the 2019 Coastal Research and Education Center Field Day on Wednesday, June 5. It was a great event that provided opportunities to visit plots on the research station to see first hand the work being done to improve farming practices in our state and beyond.
