Listen/purchase: Felix by 16mins

16 mins 16分鐘 (16 minutes) just released their ping pong ep on bandcamp. Not sure what the actual release date was, because I remember anticipating this for a spring/summer 2016 release. Over on StreetVoice, the individual songs are all listed as coming out today, but the ep release date says April 12. 

Anyway, it is being sold for PWYW (name your price) at bandcamp, and I think it’s well worth the $6. I paid. Full preview at bandcamp. =D  

By the way, this is the 4-member version of the band. Check them out in November, playing most of the ep songs at Green Village studio in Beijing (plus an interview segment w/ each member):

First chance to hear 16mins (16分鐘) in their new 4-piece formation, with a couple of songs from Dusk Dawn Club the other night.   Sounds really good!  

I know Robin and Sindy were happy at the time they reduced 16mins to a duo; later on they were very pleased when they added Kalimero (通知通 Tong Tong) on bass, dividing the drum kit & keyboard duties between Sindy & Kalimero.   

But I think having a dedicated drummer (Fiach) is the best presentation for the band, there’s no compromise in how the music get played, and Sindy is such an arresting frontperson.  =D

Love the transition between these 2 songs - using the electronic beat just to gradually bridge the difference in tempos.

2 songs from 16mins.  This is not their full live setup, I don’t think there was room for Sindy’s kit, but it’s intense, Robin always looks like a hurricane in a bottle!  =D
