I’m an optimist. Unquestionably. I wouldn’t normally describe myself as one though. If you woke me up in the middle of the night and asked, I’d probably tell you that I’m a realist. It’s the classic how-you-see-yourself-how-others-see-you conundrum. 

Much like "Follow the money,” the standard advice for when trying to uncover corruption and other unsavoury activities, “Watch the actions” -- albeit less catchy -- is the standard advice when trying to uncover character. Not a single action, but a collection of them, over time; habits, if you will. Regardless of what they tell you, the habits show you the person.

Earlier today, while wrapping up my 2018 Bullet Journal, I saw, objective, just how many engagements I schedule for myself in a day. There were several days when I hung out with as many as three people or groups of people separately: Lunch with one friend or group of friends, dinner and or a movie with another, and then possibly squeezing in a date either tea time, in-between lunch and dinner, or we meet up for drinks after the movie. 

Not only was I constantly stressed, running around, not being present, mostly just checking off encounters like they’re chores, I was also almost always late. This is an insane way to live for someone who’s introverted; someone who social engagements literally drain the energy out of.
