39 minutes at bedtime
It’s a hat trick ! Last night was the third consecutive night when my closing ritual coincided with the buzzer. It does seem to have everything to do with the effort to concentrate. The effort has been precise.
The effort has been to pay attention to the sound of the purely mental chant. As I utter the syllables of the chant, I have also been listening to it. Uttering and listening are two distinctly different mental functions. You will know when you meditate. When both functions are used for the same activity, it’s exercising greater concentration than exercising any one mental muscle.
This extra concentration is resulting in that coincidental thing with the closure of the last three meditation sessions. Am not complaining. Just don’t know how to notch it up with the concentration without botching up the phase ! The listening of the mind that is resting and not chanting when the breath is paused, seems like the best I can do now.
Unfortunately, the silence is the pathway to the deep subconscious. That’s the part of the mind that is like the multi headed mythical serpent Kalia. The battle seems inevitable and I am not ready for it. So, help me God.
