The two off them had been together for 4,5 years now, right after the events around Loki Steve had confessed his feeling for her and lucky Y/N had felt the same way. Y/N worked for the FBI and was like Steve a so called superhero with her own set of skills, that meant that they both had their own missions which caused them to sometimes miss each other for weeks. That was exactly what happened this month, Y/N had been on one mission for over a week followed by Steve who needed to go on a mission. Although they hadn’t seen each other for more than an hour in those two weeks they communicated with each other by notes. Y/N always hid some notes around the house before she left, while Steve left some in her bag and suite. The day before Y/N got back and Steve needed to leave, buying a Christmas tree was on the calendar. Steve had bought the biggest, most gorgeous tree he could find, knowing exactly what she wanted. Y/N was incredibly tired when she got back and disappointed that Steve had to leave so soon, but once she saw the tree he bought she couldn’t stop smiling. Steve promised he would be back before Christmas and in time to finish the last of the decorating. Y/N kept him on the last promise and while she had started decorating the house, she left the first ornament they bought together for him to put in the tree. “You don’t have to keep standing there.” Y/n said as was still standing with her back against them Steve walked over wrapping his arms around her from behind, pressing a kiss in her neck “And you could have stayed in bed with me.” He joked “I’ve missed you too.” Leaning back against his chest “You’re lucky you gotten back yesterday, just in time to keep your promise.” Steve let go of her and took the ornament from the table. It was a very cheesy ornament with a gingerbread house and the line ‘There’s snow place like home.’ on it, and it meant the world too the both off them. He hang the ornament precisely where is always hang, in the top on the front of the tree. A feeling of happiness and relief washed over Y/N happy and relieved that they were both home and I one piece for Christmas “Beautiful.” She sighed, leaning against his side with her arms around his waist. Steve pressed a kiss on the side of her head “Just like you.”
