11 JULY 2024 || HOMEWARDS ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, LAMBETH
The Prince of Wales visited Lambeth for a special event marking the first year anniversary of Homewards, the five-year programme which aims to demonstrate that together it is possible to end homelessness.
Homewards is working with six flagship locations across the UK, to deliver and demonstrate innovative solutions that prevent and end homelessness,creating tried and tested models that can be scaled.
The event recognized the extensive work that has taken place since the programme was launched in June 2023 to build the foundations for success. It brought together representatives from the six flagship locations well as individuals from across the wider homelessness and private sectors.
Upon arrival, William spent time with representatives from each of the six Homewards locations, hearing about the work they have done over the past twelve months and what they have chosen to focus on moving forwards.
He then joined the audience for a fireside chat, before delivering a short speech to thank programme partners and others for their commitment and support to the initiative.

Julie Wharton, a director at the Hideaway Youth Project Manchester, spoke about how the Prince of Wales and The Royal Foundation has worked with them and helped the charity to build infrastructure to provide positive opportunities to young people.
The Prince of Wales fulfilled a promise made to them at a garden party and contributed by providing six new computers and funding a podcast room at their center.
