Celebrating Over a Decade of Excellence Since 2012
By Richmond Kofi Adjapong
It’s hard to believe that more than ten years have passed since Rich Freight Services Ltd first opened its doors in Ghana. Back in 2012, we were just a small team with big ambition—determined to make a mark in the freight forwarding industry, even though the odds weren’t exactly in our favour.
There wasn’t a grand launch. No fancy office. Just a couple of desks, a handful of clients willing to take a chance on us, and a belief that we could deliver logistics services with more care, more precision, and more honesty than what we were seeing around us.
Fast forward to today, and it’s not just about the years—it’s about the journey.
We’ve grown. Not just in size, but in capability. From handling small regional shipments to coordinating multi-modal, cross-continental cargo projects, we’ve expanded our scope without losing the values we started with. It’s been a decade of learning, of missteps, of breakthroughs, and—most importantly—of service.
Our first warehouse facility in Tema was modest. Bare concrete floors. A fan in the corner. No automation. But we made it work. Today, that warehouse has evolved into a structured, tech-enabled space where real-time inventory updates, streamlined packing stations, and temperature-sensitive zones are the norm. Not perfect—but lightyears ahead of where we started.
And our team? That’s been the heart of everything.
Some of our staff have been with us since the beginning. Others joined along the way and brought fresh energy, new ideas, and a drive to push boundaries. I remember when one of our customs brokers stayed at the port till midnight, waiting on a critical clearance document for a client's medical supply shipment. No overtime request. Just responsibility. That’s the kind of spirit that built this company.
But it hasn’t always been smooth.
There were tough years. 2015 was rough—the market tightened, and we struggled to balance quality service with rising costs. Then came COVID-19, and for a few months, the entire logistics world was upside down. Vessel schedules collapsed. Border policies changed by the hour. Clients were stressed. So were we.
But we stayed the course.
Through it all, we focused on what we could control: communication, transparency, and finding practical solutions. That stubborn consistency became our strength. It didn’t always look exciting, but our clients noticed. One even told us, “You’re not the cheapest. But I sleep better when you’re handling our freight.” That might be the best compliment we’ve ever received.
Looking back now, I think the most meaningful part of this ten-year journey is how we’ve grown with our clients. We’ve seen small Ghanaian businesses become international exporters. We’ve supported startups as they expanded into new regions. We’ve helped global firms understand how to operate smoothly in West Africa.
That trust—that partnership—is what keeps us going.
And this year, as we mark over a decade in business, we’ve been honoured with a nomination for the 2025 Go Global Awards in London, hosted by the International Trade Council. That recognition means a lot—not because of the spotlight, but because it validates the work we’ve put in behind the scenes. It’s not just about freight forwarding anymore. It’s about connecting global supply chains, contributing to trade resilience, and helping shape the future of logistics in Ghana and beyond.
The Go Global Awards, to us, isn’t just a ceremony. It’s a meeting point—a place where companies from all over the world gather to exchange insight, challenge old models, and build new collaborations. In a rapidly changing world, these gatherings are more than symbolic. They are essential. And we’re proud to be part of that dialogue.
So what’s next?
Well, we’re not slowing down. We’re investing in smarter tech, more training for our team, and deepening our network of partners across Africa, Asia, and Europe. We’re also doubling down on compliance and ethical standards—because in logistics, reputation is everything.
Ten years in, and we still feel like we’re just getting started.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned since 2012, it’s that logistics isn’t about moving goods. It’s about trust. About showing up when things go wrong. About owning mistakes, fixing them, and getting the job done anyway.
That’s what Rich Freight Services Ltd stands for. That’s what this past decade has taught us.
And that’s what we carry forward—into the next ten years and beyond.
