Teen Wolf Review #10
For this week’s Teen Wolf review I have decided to review Lydia Martin, one of the main characters of the television program that reappears throughout every season.
Lydia Martin has to be one of the best Teen Wolf characters by far for three principle reasons; her character development, her relatability and her supernatural abilities.
To start off, Lydia Martin is one of the most well developed characters on the TV show. In season one, she appears to be quite full of herself and uncaring towards others, especially when it was made clear that Lydia had no idea who Stiles Stilinski was despite him being in love with her since the third grade:
Natalie Martin: “Honey, there’s a Stiles here to see you.”
Lydia Martin: “What the hell is a Stiles?”
In this example Lydia did not care about who Stiles was, nor did she know who he was. This is truly unbelievable as Stiles Stilinski had been trying to get her attention for his entire lifetime. So, we can infer that Lydia Martin commenced as a very ignorant and self centered person.
But as she and her story moved along through each and every season, she ended up to be a completely different character in the finale season.
Before and into season six, Lydia Martin forgets about her own popularity and is able to focus on what really matters in her life. She becomes a very well-rounded character and young woman: “I have been looking for him all day. Whoever it is, I think I loved him.” This proves her new-found characteristics as even though Stiles Stilinski had disappeared from everybody’s lives and had been forgotten completely, Lydia Martin remembered something about some sort of presence that was missing in her life. Therefore, Lydia Martin’s character development has been great over the course of six seasons because she’s changed from a narcissistic teenage girl to a kind-hearted high school senior who is extremely aware of her surroundings.
Although Lydia’s character development is a big contribution to her overall characterization, it is not the only trait that Lydia Martin has going for her; she is also a very relatable character. Despite her being a banshee, Lydia has very human-like emotions and thoughts. She is a practical and intelligent person which most people can somehow relate to in their own lives. In the following quote, Lydia Martin describes how she feels which is very familiar to most people: “I'm shaking it like this because we're in the middle of nowhere with your broken down jeep and we're being attacked by yet another razor-clawed monster. And I'm terrified.” Most humans would also be as terrified as Lydia Martin if they were put in this situation, and this is only one example of when an audience can relate to this specific character. Therefore, Lydia Martin would have to be one of the best roles on Teen Wolf because of her relatability as well.
Finally, Holland Roden’s character also has unique supernatural abilities. She is not like the other characters in the show because of the sense that she does not have glowing eyes, or super senses. Instead, she has voices in her head. This is another reason as to why Lydia Martin is a great character because this makes her unique and gives her a different quality to bring to the television program in comparison to other personalities on the show.
Overall, Lydia Martin can clearly be identified as one of the best characters appearing throughout all the seasons of Teen Wolf because of three main reasons. Her character development, relatability and supernatural aspects are all factors that contribute to this exciting and likeable role.

Teen Wolf Review #9
For this week’s review I thought I would analyze one character in particular, Stiles Stilinski.
Stiles Stilinski, Teen Wolf’s most favoured character, has a lot going for him. He is funny, unique and sweet, and seems to lack nothing. He is the perfect balance of characteristics for a character and clearly holds a special place in all of Teen Wolf’s audience’s hearts.
For starters, Stiles Stilinski is hilarious; he cracks jokes all series long. He uses his sarcasm as his main source of humour, but also conveys the truth in a comical way. One example of use of sarcasm throughout the seasons is when Stiles was talking to Scott Mccall about his werewolf abilities. Stiles told Scott that he saw him catch a bunny one night and that he saw him eat it. But when Mccall asked if he ate his rabbit raw, Stiles responded with, “No, you stopped to bake it in a little werewolf oven,” as if Scott had actually done this. This quotation displays sarcasm as it states the highly unlikely. No wild animal would cook something before eating it, instead they would just eat it raw. Therefore, Stiles Stilinski has a great sense of humour, making his character realistic, relatable and likeable to the viewers.
Another characteristic shown in Stiles Stilinski is his uniqueness. Every other important character in Teen Wolf has their own supernatural quality that relates them all. Scott Mccall is a werewolf, Malia Tate is a werecoyote, Lydia Martin is a banshee, Kira Yukimura is a Kitsune and Stiles Stilinski is just a usual human. Although this may not seem unique compared to viewers, his lack of superpower is extremely unique in comparison to all the other characters in Teen Wolf. Even his recognition of his inability to do anything is unique. Other characters would never reveal themselves to be unable to solve a mission such Scott Mccall being the alpha that he is or Malia Tate being the werecoyote that chases after everything she puts her mind to. But in contrast, Stiles Stilinski knows he is not able to stop every villain or complete every case and owns up to it: “I’m 147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bone, okay? Sarcasm is my only defense.” Therefore, it is clear that Stiles is not only amusing, but distinctive as well.
One final characteristic portrayed in Dylan O’Brien’s superb character is how loyal he is. Stiles Stilinski is a very caring and loyal guy, shown in his relationship with Lydia Martin for the most part. Despite her never caring about him, Stiles continued to like her throughout every season. Lydia Martin did not even pay attention to Stiles in the first couple of seasons, and never ended up even liking him back when she did notice him. But even though Stiles knew he’d never have a chance with her, he continued to like her: “Ah. Well, the 10-year plan for making Lydia fall in love with me may have to stretch to 15, but the plan is definitely still in motion." This shows his loyalty because he stuck by her side and to his 10-year plan, no matter Lydia’s feelings for him.
Overall, Stiles Stilinski is a very well planned out character for his humour, uniqueness and loyalty.

Teen Wolf Review #8
This week I decided to review the villains that have appeared during each season of Teen Wolf.
The writers of Teen Wolf have done a pretty good job when it comes to terms of the creation of monstrous creatures throughout the series. Each creature captivated the audience and brought a unique trait with them, but their appearances became a bit repetitive after about four seasons.
Starting off in season one, the alpha werewolf was a great start to the series. The constant questioning of who the mysterious supernatural being really is keeps the audience on their feet for the entire season.
Moving forward to part one of season two, the alpha pack was another figure that continued the audience’s captivation. Although, the middle of this season tended to drag on as the viewers have enough knowledge of the alpha werewolf and it’s pack. So, we could say that this season became unnecessary and uninteresting after a while.
But, part two of season two hooked the audience before they got too tired of the alpha pack. Trying to uncover the identity of the mysterious kanima that killed everything in its path kept the audience captivated for the entire two part season.
Season three was also an excellent series of episodes in terms of paranormal creatures. There were lot’s of questions regarding a new student in Beacon Hills, Kira Yukimura, which was a great way to snatch the audience’s attention. Of more, Stiles Stilinski, the viewers’ most favoured character according to a poll directed by MoviePilot, was affected immensely throughout the season. He was possessed by a creature called a Nogitsune, followed by a series of catastrophic events. Therefore, season three would have to be one of the best written seasons for their supernatural spirits.
Season four brought a whole new level of supernatural into the television program. Kate Argent, a character that had died a few seasons in the past when season four had first aired, was resurrected and came back for revenge. She brought a creature with her called The Benefactor into the season, causing chaos for each of the protagonists.
These four seasons were very interesting, yet became astoundingly repetitive as soon as we got into season five. This next season introduced another few creatures called the Dread Doctors and the Beast. These villains each had great and unique antagonistic traits such as mind-reading, echolocation and their uncaringness overall, but their actions led towards a repetitive TV show. Looking back at each season, a new villain/creature was introduced that caused some sort of problem. And although it may have seemed impossible at the commencement of the season to solve this mission, the main characters were able to resolve the conflict and carried on with their human lives before another creature struck. Each season followed this format and so in season five, the audience finally became bored of it.
Ultimately, Teen Wolf had very unique and interesting antagonist villains throughout the show which is great to develop the protagonist’s personalities and qualities. But, the constant repetition of bringing in new creatures and defeating them altogether left the audience in boredom.
It won't matter. He'll just be called Stiles anyway
