Wait are Cam and Pal explicitly nonromantic? I didn't come away with that impression, though maybe I'm inattentive. (Obviously in Nona they're probably a bit past that)
I mean I'm not sure it was ever stated directly on-page that they weren't, but as with most cases of proving a negative there's just as little explicit support for them being a romantic pair.
Beyond that, Pal's holding a candle for Dulcie until AFAIK like five minutes before he turns himself into a bomb and at least the way he conceptualizes and expresses romantic love seems fairly distinct from what he's got with Cam? But also and more fundamentally it's just the most boring read on the relationship imo.
