A wise friend recently left a comment saying, “where ARE you?!”
I’m here, I promise!
Pip just turned ONE whole month old yesterday and I’m just like, wait.. where did the past month go?? It’s been a whirlwind. Things overall are still going really well over here though.
Mostly B and I have spent the past weeks learning how to juggle two kids under two. Really, two under 1.5. 🤯 I’ve been primary caretaker for pip while B does the same for pep and it works out well for the most part. I’ve had my days where I don’t get enough pep time, and it’s definitely different now trying to split my time and attention and ensure pep still feels seen and loved. We bought him his own baby doll, complete with a diaper bag/diapers/wipes/diaper cream, bottle, and pacifier, and it’s helping him I think to understand how to take care of a baby and feel more involved with his baby bro, too.
Sleep has been tough, as anticipated. I’m back to sleeping in our bedroom now though, as opposed to the couch. Major upgrade. I dream of the day that we can tuck both boys into their own beds and they stay asleep all night, like pep does now. Does it actually ever happen for anyone?! People swear it does. I’m holding out hope!
One major highlight of late: pep and I got to visit with my bestie @operationkay10 and her fam over the July 4th holiday! It was so cool seeing the kids interact. My heart grew a size seeing them together. She’s also got her yard all decked out with awesome kid stuff: pool, water table, kid chairs and a picnic table, a play house.. giving me some ideas for our own backyard!
One other major update: B and I are considering putting an offer on a house in PA. 😬 It’s crazy timing, but he put together a huge renovation plan and timeline that would take place partially over the last few months of my parental leave. The house needs a lot of work but it’s on the most gorgeous property. It’s a loooong story, but essentially we would renovate before selling our house in NY, I would get a remote job allowing me not to have to be near the city anymore, and we would move out to the PA house. It’s all theoretical of course for now. We shall see!
