sunday morning. flowers, flowers for you. i wish i could ignore you. i wish i could avoid your melted eyes and how the sun turns the irises golden, how good you look in that dress. i shook for no one. the earth would rumble and my feet always stayed grounded, rooted to the dirt like i was the tallest tree standing, but you came in and fucking toppled me. took an ax and chopped me right through the middle. you blow dandelion seeds through the air and they tangle in my hair, get caught on my tongue. i choke and you smile like the prettiest shade of pink i’ve ever seen. dandelions in my hands, my chubby fist wrapped around the stems and shaking when i press them to your chest. green grass under your feet and the way your toes wiggle between it. i wish i could ignore you, but ignoring you would be like trying to ignore the sun when it rises. impossible.
