There was this tree that i found growing on the side of the road. This tree, gazing it from the bottom up, it was black. The trunk was so dark with polluted smoke, branches barely showing its natural brown color and i thought, poor tree.

It looks dead, dying, barely surviving the air of the city. Despite the fact that it was so dark, polluted from the bottom and probably unhealthy soil, it was a beauty.

It was so beautiful.

Why?

Because even with the dark trunk and suppose to be brown but black branches, its beauty grows out with its leaves and flowers. The vibrant light green color of its leaves overpowers the dark background of it as a whole. So healthy it is that you would never think it is growing in a polluted place, with polluted people. Its flowers, pink and shiningly light.

Indeed, it was a beauty. A beauty found in the middle of catastrophe.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since I’ve been out of school. I feel like I have learned so much and I am ready to learn so much more. So much has happened in a span of 365 day that it is completely unbelievable. Nonetheless, I am thankful for where I am at in this point in my life and I am extremely excited to see where I will go. 

I was at work today putting away some books in the kids section and was shuffling around some books on Ancient Egypt and out of nowhere I thought to myself “Yeah, but I’m from Ancient Greece”

I think it may have been something from a past life bleeding into my subconsciousness, but I’m not quite sure.
