sam's memory of flagstaff is so important to me cause it was the final slot that sealed him as my fave ever. mainly bcs when i ran away for the first time i didnt even do anything i just walked around the city for a day and laid on this random patch of grass and it was like seeing the whole world from a new perspective. its when i really started believing that i can actually make it out of that house and i just know that memory was what got a kid with no permanent address and 15 different schools to a college like stanford. when you live with a family like that, you'd have to hold that belief that you'll make it out somehow with your strongest fist.

Hear me out - sebchal but make it amnesia (itβs not entirely my idea - I got inspired by a tumblr post but I canβt find the original, please feel free to tag!)
So basically after a major crash on the highway in Germany Seb lost part of his memory permanently as far as the doctors can tell. Everyone therefore is devastated and also panicked, because he still has to race for Ferrari. Itβs like a major PR thing and they canβt suddenly let go of Seb since the accident was kind of Ferraris fault.
Charles was one of the first oneβs who got told what happened. He has to be the one keeping Seb under a close watch. Itβs important that the public doesnβt know whatβs going on with the four time world champ, who now thinks is still in 2010, before he even got his first title. So thatβs really messy actually.
Charles has an another problem, he has to take care of his idol, who seemed to be swapped out Seb is not the wise, fierce man he once admired anymore. No - heβs the opposite, well, still quite fierce but man - Seb is so different. In so many ways - the only things that are still the same are his love to talk for hours without needing to take a break and needing to flirt with everything that breaths.
And for some reason Seb also started to let his hair grow out again.
Basically Charles gets into a crisis - he misses his Seb so much, but at the same time he feels protective over this new-but-actually-old version of this cute confused guy. He just wants to keep him safe and kept away somewhere, so no one could hurt him and change this naive but genuine person.
Seb on the other hand is as lost as ever, but he tries to make the best out of it. This guy Charles - whoβs his teammate at Ferrari (omg he drives for Ferrari) - is very much one of the most good looking guys heβs ever talked to. Like for real.
The last thing he remembers is how he had a bit of an argument with Mark where he stormed off and left his teammate fuming. He doesnβt really know what the fight was about, not that he cares. He has Charles now.
Basically Charles and Sebastian try their best to deceive the world while building a trusting friendship. Or at least thatβs what they tell the guys at Ferrari that know.
Behind the scenes theyβre an absolute mess. Seb doesnβt like getting told what heβs suppose to do, heβs so damn unreasonable sometimes and Charles would love to teach him a lesson - but fuck itβs still Seb heβs talking about! This feels so wrong, Charles wants to leave this PR bullshit behind and let Seb heal.
But the thing is, physically Seb is as healthy as one could be. And sitting in this shitbox of a car - heβs doing surprisingly well. Too well.
Itβs scary really, itβs like Charles is watching a soon-to-be world champion driving. A rookie with too much fun and no pressure at all - not a 4 time world champion. Charlesβ head is spinning.
Meanwhile Seb is starstruck by his teammate and he also seems to be way nicer than Mark - which isnβt really hard. But apparently him and Mark get along now anyway, so whatever happened in the past few years - heβs kinda sad that he missed all of it. Also the fact that heβs already a world champion - he wouldβve loved to experience that, actually. So Seb needs to make it up and win another one - preferably in red.
