I’m glad you like it, I don’t have much more to say on it since I don’t develop it too often, but I’ll say it’s along the lines of Dyo falling first and Hasel falling harder, where as in the original au it was Dyo and Hasel as Dyo and Hasel and not swapped around, if that makes sense? Dyo personality falling first vs doctor personality falling first.
They have more of a toxic emotionally dependent relationship in the swap however, and Hasel isn’t really able to tell Dyo he loves him, until he eventually builds up the courage to. Neither of them have any internalised homophobia in the swap, whereas Hasel does in the original (but Dyo is still gay and Hasel is still bi in the swap)
I am a fan of them breaking apart then meeting back up again and having a more on and off sort of thing, where Dyo is researching and Hasel shows up every few decades and time period changes. I think Dyo is trying to figure out where he came from, but Hasel wants to ask for his help to get rid of the vine, but this takes a lot of courage for him to build up to as well since he doesn’t like being vulnerable.
Despite not being in an agreed upon relationship I think they’d still get jealous if the other seemed interested in someone else. I can totally see a scene where Dyo pretends to have a crush on a scientist or a librarian who’s trying to help him find out his origins, and Hasel is really pouty about it until the guy turns out to be secretly evil, and Hasel is trying to hide how overjoyed he is at this information LMAO. But Dyo would be asking him why he cared so much, since they aren’t even in a relationship, (fully knowing why he cares) and Hasel would refuse to cave.
