i grew up in a very angry house. everyone yelled, constantly, and there were swears echoing off the walls and up the stairs to bounce through the upstairs windows. i learned my first curse word at age 6, when my father tripped on my shoe going up the stairs and threw it at me over the railing. that kind of anger rubbed off on me, made me into a person who struggled with crying and with knowing whether i was angry or masking something else.
