Pokemon: Shiny vs. Default, 0019-0020
Alright back at it again, slightly late, but itâs time to talk about that Rattata, and oh thank you Arceus, the Alola form is here to provide some manually-chosen shiny colours.
Also yeah, Iâm going to be doing Alolan, Galarian, and Hisuian forms in the same update as their original forms. Which means Meowth is going to be almost as long an update as Charmander, but weâll get there when we get there.
For now, Purple Rat time.
Default, default, default! God the shiny looks terrible, the most mucus-y of all the green shines thus far. I hate it.
Now for the other Rattata.
Honestly not sure why Rattata of all Pokemon got the Alolan form treatment, but then a lot of the Alolan forms were weird picks. Anyway, as much as I was hyping up the non-algorithm shinies earlier... yeah I still prefer the default. This is as much as I can make myself care about Alolan Rattata, so letâs move on.
Now for that Pokemon you totally murdered on the SS Anne. Yes, you.
Gonna give it to the shiny this time. I like the more reddish colour, and itâs a massive improvement over Slime Rat up there, so points for that too.
Lastly, that Pokemon the Hardcore Nuzlockers use to cheese Ultra Necrozma.
Unlike the Kantonian form, thereâs no colour differences between the two stages, and thus the defaultâs going to win again.Â
Oh thank fuck Iâm almost done with the Kanto Earlygame Pokemon. Just one more update, and itâs the one thatâs best for actually playing the game.
Default: 23
Shiny: 8
Draw: 1

She insists on crawling off of you before you talk, which you figure is fair, but you donât want to let go completely. She lets you hold onto her sleeve.Â
âSo,â you start, and recount everything in order after she fell into the tower. The falling, the cave, diving in the pool of water seeking lightâ the jellyfish and the tree, the impulse to âsaveâ the childrenâ
Her eyebrows rise as you talk, and you see a reflection of panic in her eyes.Â
...is she trembling because sheâs holding her arm out to you, or..?Â
You speak of how you got the child out, how the water took herâ you figure the mysterious lady you met later did that, now that you think of it. You donât tell her how you struggled to pick yourself up, or how you had to scrounge up junk to be able to hold both your crutches and the light, but you do mention picking up the necklace.Â
Her expression is unreadable, but the trembling hasnât stopped.
The trek into the tunnels, the room full of junk and bones and treasures, the water-made creature, the glowing rock you picked upâ you hold the necklace out into your palm, perplexedâ and finally meeting your host.
You hesitate about telling her of the wave of terror that grasped your soul when you saw her. You feel silly about it. But youâd decided youâd say everything, so everything is it.Â
You try to recall the specifics of her explanationâ dreams and someone she mistook you forâ all you really understood was the dream thing, though. This is what this place is.Â
âShe said we need to wake everyone up to escape,â you remember, and Seaweed nods wordlessly.
That reminds you of something, but the memory slips before you can grasp it.
âAnd then... I found you here... and you fell on me.â yeah you donât need to mention the impulsive kiss thing do you
âAnd you? How did you... get up there..?âÂ
She shrugs. âHell if I know. Last thing I remember was falling into that tower thing.â
âOh. Okay.â
...sheâs not meeting your eyes.Â
Focus is slipping, slowly. Perhaps this could be the last chance to talk to Seaweed in a while. What now? The number is 0020.
