Pair the spares, Boorman thought, when he thought about it. Not that he minded; Airk was great company. He’d go a bit quiet at times, slipping away to brood on his own, but he was usually game for a good time. It didn’t hurt that he looked stunningly like his dad in certain lights: his roguishly charming, utterly sexy dad that Boorman had wanted to be and just plain wanted, in equal measure. When Airk grinned it was like Madmartigan’s ghost was there, just for a moment. When he frowned it was eerily like how Mads looked on the harder nights of the quest for the Cuirass, and that was painful to remember. Airk’s resemblance to his father induced a complicated rush of emotions that made Boorman shiver, and reach for another drink.
