So, just being honest, the only reason I've met mutuals irl is to help them move closer to me because their home life sucks. Basically just... okay so. Video calls, I pay for plane tickets, I fly out to theirs for a week before to see if we can stand each other irl and to help them pack. Packing shouldn't take that long because you need to pack light. We fly back together if they're still sure, they move in with me, I help them become a citizen and get insurance and whatever and whatnot, they need to be looking and applying for jobs or community colleges (online or not) at the two month mark, I help them look for an apartment or condo when they're able to look into it, and boom they're a citizen of a progressive state within a year and we get to meet each other when we want/our schedules allow.
But if I get there and they decide actually they don't want to move for whatever reason whatsoever, then I'll just go back. Usually they stay because they have siblings they can't leave behind so usually then I'll just fly out so we can at least hang out and they don't have to uproot their entire life. But it always started with that intent of moving. None of them have started it with "Hey let's just meet up and walk around together" it's always after like a year of them venting or complaining about their family until I ask "Wanna move in with me?" And they say yes. it's a lot.
