@firelord-hotman || Time is cruel...then kind.
The lights of the Fire Nation capital slowly started to die down as well as the noises, when the sky became darker. People started to close their shops, families either began, or finished their supper. It was now slightly quiet-- with the exceptions of a few pubs and people chatting out in the streets. Thankfully, the palace and the higher-status of the land were far from them.
The former Governor's daughter sat on her window ledge, staring off to the distance at the capital's lights. She had just finished dinner and wanted some time alone, like most of her days. Her eyes then began to look towards the dim-lighted palace of the new Fire Lord.
It was already months since she last talked to him. It felt longer, though. She had caught small glimpses of him whenever he walked out of the palace, or even made eye-contacts, but never more.
A new yet familiar feeling started to burn in her. Great. Tearing her eyes away from the enormous mansion, she stood up and walked out of her room. Perhaps taking fresh air at the cool night would calm her down. The raven-haired girl didn't even bother telling her parents that she was going out, and only said so to a servant who asked her where she was going. She glanced at her parents one more time before leaving through the door, and just at the outskirts of the palace. After all, they were practically neighbors.
Mai let her feet guide her; she didn't care where she was going.
