AN EXCELLENT QUESTION. The short answer is: a gifset.Â
I really might have become aware of critical role in a number of ways, it turns out, entirely unconnected to tumblr, but how it actually happened was thusly:
I liked two gifsets that came across my dash sometime mid last year. One was this (takes place during the Briarwood arc) and the other I cannot for the life of me find, but was another version of THIS scene, focusing on Vax and Gilmore (spoilers for episode 58!). These gifsets languished in my likes (where one is still, I imagine), and then critical role happened to be casually mentioned in an unrelated video I was watching. And I was like, ah, yes, that is a thing I thought I might dedicate some time to at some point. I caught up around episode 69, so it took me just under a month, I think?Â
And then I screamed at several close friends while they watched it, and the rest, as they say, is ~history~
