when it comes to her job, emily is much more the ‘i’ll be your friend who is also a doctor’ type of doctor- unless it comes down to life or death (which, in the emergency department, is pretty often). she can come across as arrogant or even a little cold, but it’s a result of disconnecting emotionally in order to process the complicated situations that often arise. during her last year of residency (that ended in may of this year), she was part of a team gathered by a diagnostician, but ultimately left the team due to professional disagreements, and has returned to working in the emergency department.

christmas is a chaotic affair for the jung family; due to the nature of her job, getting off for the holidays is hard, and emily is often one of the doctors that volunteers to stay behind on the holiday and celebrate christmas with the rest of her family the day before. to date, emily has only actually made three official christmas dinners in the past five years, and sporadic appearances at the annual christmas party that her parents host. she would much rather stay at home with her son and a mini christmas tree, sipping hot chocolate as she watches him open presents. because at age five, waking up late to do so still feels like a special event for him, and it works in balance with her job at the hospital.
