Couldn’t he just run away again?

No. Sal wasn’t thin air to him. He should’ve done a better job at letting his brother know that. Why did this have to be more difficult than it should?

“I– I just wanted to…” His voiced trailed off, and suddenly he wanted to turn around and walk back to where he came from.

It was stupid. He was stupid. The chances of him reforming his relationship with Sal were decreasing by the minute and he knew that. What did Sal think of him at this point? Was there any point in trying even?

He took a deep breath in, hoping to calm his nerves and racing heart. He couldn’t just back out now, not after what he’s done. Not again.

That hurt. Mostly because it was true. Samekichi couldn’t do anything but grit his teeth and look away as the guilt sank into his stomach again. Sure, it was Sal’s decision to go to the sea. But Aonami could’ve done something. He saw his brother for the first time in years, the brother he had been searching for. Then he blew it. It was just Samekichi now, and he was an asshole.

Kichi had to take a moment to think of what to say in response, but there was nothing. Nothing to back up his actions, nothing to even explain them. He was just a coward, an idiot, and most importantly a terrible brother.

There’s a child by his side and he doesn’t know what crimes will be committed. Should he act friendly? ...It sounds like a good idea.

Of course, he never thought that Sal would forgive him. Not in their lifetime. Kichi knew that the consequences of his mistakes were far too great for the damage to just be waved away with a simple ‘I’m sorry’ on his behalf, even if Sal did forgive him - it wasn’t like he was forgiving himself.

But that still stung. It was perhaps the confirmation that Sal really did hate him that much.

He didn’t do anything. He never did, that wasn’t new. The shark just stood there, uncomfortable and guilty, as he thought of what to say in response. Should he say anything even? He just felt sick, and quite frankly wanted to do nothing with his emotions getting the best of him, showing the lack of progress he’s had over the many years. Kichi was honestly not sure what to do.

“It was my fault.” He said, the words slipping out of his mouth smoothly.

The anon was right on one thing - he didn’t mean for any of this to happen. But instead of preventing it when he had the chance, he obviously had to abandon his brother. When he saw Sal that one day, maybe he could’ve done something. Hell, even if he failed at pulling him out of the sea, at least he tried. Yet Kichi couldn’t even try because he was too much of a coward to even think about doing it.

I like to think that samekichi would definitely write some stupid sappy poetry for wadda and ALWAYS promises himself that he'd show it to her eventually but he just. Chickens out. Each time. So he has far too much sappy poetry for wadda
