Idate had to admit, he wasn’t one to keep up with events happening in Iceberg Isle. Especially when it came to the little dog. If there was anything he could say that could make a vast majority of the residents nod their heads in hesitant agreement, it would be that Shirogane was probably the least relevant, useless, and definitely most pathetic being on the Isle. This automatically meant that Idate could hardly care about Shiro’s shenanigans, he wasn’t even that fun to have a full-blown fight with.

…So Idate would never have thought for a second that the dog would be holding the sharp knife by his throat the moment they saw each other. Logically, he should be worried or scared since this wasn’t a usual occurrence, but instead of that, it was just morbid curiosity with a tinge of excitement. Idate’s interest was immediately caught, knowing that something was different. Perhaps a change of pace was all that’s needed.

“So, the little wolfie’s grown a backbone now?” He taunted with a relaxed smile on his face, as if he was still looking at the same useless, weak mutt that he usually did.

Perhaps it’s not the best to tease Shiro when he’s clearly in the mood to kill someone, but as if he cared. Shirogane was still Shirogane, and still nothing but just another bully victim to the orca. Even if Shirogane was at least seconds away from slicing his throat open. As his cigarette started to go out, he took it out and dropped it onto the ground, lighting up another one.

“Hmm. I guess I have to give you a bit of credit.” Idate admitted, blowing a ring of smoke, “This is development!”

He was walking on thin ice, which could be an incredibly funny saying to use in his situation, depending on if you look at it literally or metaphorically. 

“...”

That hurt. Mostly because it was true. Samekichi couldn’t do anything but grit his teeth and look away as the guilt sank into his stomach again. Sure, it was Sal’s decision to go to the sea. But Aonami could’ve done something. He saw his brother for the first time in years, the brother he had been searching for. Then he blew it. It was just Samekichi now, and he was an asshole.

Kichi had to take a moment to think of what to say in response, but there was nothing. Nothing to back up his actions, nothing to even explain them. He was just a coward, an idiot, and most importantly a terrible brother.

“I have my suspicions.” He admitted, thinking back on the odd conversations Nagi would sometimes have with him.

Obviously, he was glad for the fact that Nagi didn’t spend all her time with him trying to get his attention via harassment, but in place of that would be incredibly concerning or odd talks related to her home life - like how mother was punishing father - or lessons that her mother taught that were even worrisome to Idate. Not to mention how the few times he’s seen Takama himself his poor old brother looked like he got ran over multiple times and was probably on the verge of death. But he really didn’t have anything confirmed.

“I... I don’t have one, I don’t think.” He said after a moment of thinking.

This wasn’t exactly the kind of question he’d want, but it was a question nonetheless, and a pretty good one. If one were to analyze Idate’s reaction to the whale, it would raise lots and lots of questions as to why the other was still alive with what he’s done. If it was anyone else, Idate would’ve made sure they were killed in icy cold-blood and maybe turn them into his lunch if he felt like it. Not Gris though, in fact, there hadn’t been a single scratch on Gris that came from Idate.

It wasn’t like Idate could pass this off as something that he’s just allowing to happen since Gris didn’t do anything (physically) harmful to him or anyone else. The Orca would gladly torment innocent strangers and sworn enemies alike. Plus, he’s also obligated to tell the truth.

Oh damn, that was a pretty good question. If Idate had to be honest, he really didn’t think about his relationship with Takama too much. He was sure for some basics on his own end though, one of them being that he’d wish he could talk to his brother more. Not exactly because they were absolutely disconnected, but because there was definitely strange going on with Takama (especially with how Nagi is turning out). But beyond that, it was basically... eh?
