The Strix is/was the oldest vampire society in existence, founded by Elijah Mikaelson in the Middle Ages. It’s exclusively made of up of Elijah’s sire line. Originally, the group was made to keep peace amongst the sire lines and protect Elijah. 

Elijah, along with the help of his protege Aya, created the Strix with the intent of gathering great minds in an effort to build a better future.

The symbol of the group is of an owl. In Greek and Roman mythology, a strix was a bird of ill omen that fed on human flesh and blood. Strix is the ancient-Greek word for "owl".

The cards they give out to recruits reveal the location of where they can be found by covering it in blood.

The Strix seek out talented individuals and help them grow. Their numbers include artists, politicians, warriors, leaders, and people talented in many other areas. They also have numerous vampire soldiers under their command. 

When the Strix was started, Aya and Elijah wrote a rulebook called The Chater. The Charter is a scroll book containing the sacred bylaws of the Strix, created over nine-hundred years ago during the creation of the Strix. Each member is bound to the laws and tradition of the Charter despite the fact that many may not know of its existence.

However, Elijah had to abandon the society when Mikael descended upon him and his family. Elijah took the Charter and left the Strix behind to be slaughtered by his father. 

Tristan de Martel, Aya Al-Rashid, and Maya Lhamo Petrova/Flemming managed to escape and survive. For a while, they had kept low to avoid being found by Mikael, and after a couple hundred years, the Strix was reborn.

Tristan declared himself the leader, Aya had been second-in-command, and Maya was almost third-in-command and like a mother to all Strix members as a joke the members used to call her queen but now she takes it very seriously. The three were more than resentful towards Elijah about leaving them for dead. 

Tristain had slightly changed the meaning of the Strix. Under the leadership of Tristan, the group expanded into one of the most powerful organizations in the world, responsible for countless wars, assassinations, and plagues throughout history. The Strix often employed scare tactics, creating a climate of fear to take better control of cities they were infiltrating; often by using serial killings to scare the public. With this, some Strix members, especially Tristain, had become egotistical, believing that the Strix had all this power in the world of vampires and that they were practically untouchable. 

This ideal divided the Strix in half and a rebellion formed that eventually tore them apart. Tristian had been against the rebellion, Aya had been for it, and Maya was the small group that was in between. Maya wanted peace amongst both, to find a happy medium. almost like a better ultimatum, and remind the members of the Charter and its rules. Her small party had been for both sides, and wanted to find peace amongst both Tristian’s party and Aya’s party. 

But the tension and anger had risen too fast and a plan to assassinate the three leaders of the Strix broke out. Trying to defend their leaders. All Strix members died that night, including Tristain and Aya. (if they join this rp, this part will change) The only two survivors were Maya Lhamo Petrova/Flemming and Marjorie Schade.
