fuchsia! and green too! Oh, sorry I haven't sent you any pies lately. I've been...weeeeellll....I've been sort of busy.
Hmm, Iād say Iām more turquoise than green, but I guess Iāll take it. Heh, thanks, Punz!
ā¦Youāre seriously sayinā sorry for not making me more pies?? Are ya jokinā with me,Ā Rapunzel? How are you so nice?! How are you a real person, honestly. For real. What have ya been busy with, out of curiosity? Have ya finally left that tower of yours?
ready to run | rapunzel & kovu
Itās time to run.
Kovu calls up to Rapunzelās tower, and itās only now that he realises itās 3 in the morning, a completely inappropriate time to be calling up to a girl at the base of her tower.
Heās expecting her to be his salvation, and why heās so sure she can be that Kovu isnāt even certain. Thereās something about Rapunzel, certainly, something that was evident from the moment he met her, a bright and brilliant and healing force within her, something that had never been present before in his life.Ā
They are both tactile people, touch-starved, craving contact. She starts holding his hand, he starts pulling her into his chest. Ā And he is impressed when she becomes better able to defend herself against the words he throws at her like knives, becomes so good that she's able to juggle them like a circus act, just another of her several hundred hobbies. But, in the end, heās still not sure why he thinks sheāll be able to help him, and maybe itās selfish for him to be heaping all of this expectation on her, expectation that sheāll change the course of his life and keep it from spiralling into the shithole that it seemed to constantly orbit.
But he does it anyway, and wonders (hopes) that sheāll come through.
Itās time to run.
He yells and yells and yells, the desperation in his voice getting keener and more evident with each repetition of her name until finally, finally, a confused and groggy voice calls back down to him.
āKovu?ā
He climbs up along the wall of the tower, no longer fearing the sticky end heād meet at the bottom if he lost grip, not like he once had.
āWhatās wrong?ā
He licks his lips nervously, because this is the moment of truth, and if this girl abandons him now then Kovu will have no one. No one to lead him out of the dark.
āEverything.ā And I need you to leave with me, I need you to take me far away from here because I canāt do it alone, Iāve never been able to do anything alone with her, constantly looking over my shoulder and digging into it with nails sharpened to a point and whispering ambitions (her ambitions not my own) into my ear like a slowly dripping line of poison. If sheās gone, what am I? What am I without the people in my life telling me who I am? (youāre the future King youāre a killer youāll be our salvation youāll be their ruin.) I need you to remind me that thereās a me that exists out of all of that. And I know youāre ready to leave too, I can see the determination glowing fiercely in your eyes when you look at the lanterns painted on your wall, acrylics on stone. Youāre ready to leave too.
Itās time to run.
It doesnāt come out like that, in fact Kovu barely gets out more than a few words but somehow they manage to convey a lot more.
When Rapunzel says āYes,ā a hesistant āYesā but a āYesā nevertheless, Kovu breathes a half-gasp of surprise, half-sigh of relief like heās just narrowly avoided an oncoming train, because he knows heāll be crushed if her answer is anything else.
He finally gets up from where heās positioned, half-kneeling on Rapunzelās floor, and decides. If he didnāt leave now he was never going to be free, he was never going to stop the pages of his motherās story flipping, the one she'd written him into, blood on stone. He wanted to be in someone elseās story.
Hers.
He's ready to run.
lamborghini mercy || rapunzel & kovu
Kovu: /Running for his life lost in the woods was not how Kovu pictured how he would be spending his afternoon, ruffians behind him calling out for his blood. Really, he should have learned by now not to trust any shady deals Banzai convinced him to enter, especially when they entailed him venturing out of the Outlands to territories previously unknown to him. He was having difficulty keeping ahead, too; he was used to escaping across barren wasteland with nothing in sight but a few rocks here and there. Here, if he wasn't thinking quick enough, he'd smash his head into a tree. He almost did just that, stopping short before he faceplanted into... brickwork? Kovu angled his head upwards and surveyed a tall tower, devoid, it appeared, of any way in. /Shi- HEY, ANYBODY UP THERE?
