It had been a fairly uneventful day at work. No wars to discuss, no civil disputes to solve, and certainly no meetings to be had. The Chancellor’s day, much to his dismay, had been mostly empty. Emperor Aldercapt must have heard about it, because the unfortunate soul was sent to the muddy, murky swamps of the Vesper Pool. The dark waters soaked through his shoes, and his clothes in general. The balmy air was definitely not ideal weather for his heavy attire. The poor man had begun sweating when he had arrived.

To make matters even worse, the Star Scourge was ravaging his energy, and his skin was crawling with an itching sensation. It had started in his right arm, and slowly made its way over his shoulder, and down his back.

Ardyn, turning his back to his miniature army, had decided to roll up his sleeve to have a peek at his irritated flesh. Much to his chagrin, some of his skin was indeed red; as well as peeling like a sunburn.

Disgusting. He grimaced at the sight of it, and began to scratch at it. The irritation, and shedding, was caused by Verstael; the old mad man had used him as an experiment many decades ago.

I knew I should’ve called in sick. He growled under his breath as he continued to scratch. He may have been frustrated, but gods be damned if it didn’t feel so good to scratch.
