Because – and I don’t know why – once the word “quitting” comes up, everyone always finds it very negative. Leaving medical school and going to the conservatory; that was also me “quitting”, in a way. Then everyone’s first reaction might be: so why couldn’t you stay in medical school? I’d say: it was very difficult. And maybe everyone would laugh. Like, why was it difficult?

But that kind of difficulty isn’t something anyone can truly understand. That I was sleeping only two hours a day and all that – nobody will bother to understand you. Back then, when I was in medical school, I felt like I was close to emotional collapse every day. That’s why I felt, then, that if I kept living like that, all of me would be ruined. So if “quitting” is on some level rescuing yourself, I think we should encourage people to be brave enough to quit. But of course, you’ve got to think it through first.
