my meeks and cam playlist so far + analysis:
- wildflowers by tom petty: specifically cam to meeks, saying how he deserves to go find a better life if that's what he wants (specifically "run away, go find a lover" with cam being aroace and feeling like he's not giving enough) (the songs get happier guys i swear)
- crossroads by don mclean: "so there's no need for turning back/cause all roads lead to where we stand/and I believe i'll walk them all/no matter what we may have planned" just. them choosing to go through whatever comes up together even if they don't know what that is yet, there's no need to quit this
- you'll never walk alone by gerry and the pacemakers: self explanatory with the title tbh. them promising that no matter what, they'll be together and there for each other, they can tell each other anything without fear of judgement.
- I only want to be with you by dusty springfield: I mean. look up the lyrics. 😭 but specific examples: "i don't know what it is that makes me love you so/I only know I never want to let you go"(the queerplatonicness) & "I never knew that I could be in love like this" (not only deeply but in a way that's not romantic but also not platonic)
- rain clouds by the arcadian wild: similar vibes to "you'll never walk alone", just them promising they'll be in this together yknow. also this verse feels very meeks and cam coded respectively #tome - "i'm being frightened by the people/who look at me like i'm a scar upon their perfect skin/perfect to only them.../i'm being shadowed by my past/reminding me of what I was and what I could become/my sins should stay where they belong"
- lean on me by bill withers: again, similar vibe but more friendship-coded. also this specifically - "please swallow your pride/if I have things you need to borrow/for no one can fill/those of your needs/that you won't let show" feels very meeks to cam coded
- chosen family by rina sawayma: suchhh a queerplatonic coded song tbh. talking about being similar and able to relate without necessarily being related fr. this specifically with them relating over academics stuff yknow.
- that's what friends are for by dionne warwick ft a ton of people: we're singing this in choir and it felt so dps, queerplatonic, non-romantic relationships being important #tome. this specifically "and I never thought i'd feel this way/and as far as i'm concerned i'm glad I got the chance to say/that i do believe i love you" yayayayya them :((
@ilovemeekster (i mean its meeks x cam content i feel like i have to tag you atp) 🙂↕️
