At this point, almost a decade into her YouTube career, Angela was pretty comfortable in front of a camera. She was confident and charismatic, always had a way of connecting with the viewer and making them feel special. But on Taste of Boston, it wasn’t just her and the audience. There were three other co-hosts on her show, all of them vying for attention and airtime. Angela’d only been a talk show host for five months, maybe six, but already she liked it. She had dreams of a solo gig, magazine covers, a book club and her own TV network. That couldn’t happen with three other idiots breathing down her neck. So she thought about how she could make herself stand out, prove that she was more than just a talking head vlogger from LA, that she could do more with this opportunity. A good story was what she needed, somebody famous, somebody the people would care about, with something compelling to say to or about the city of Boston.
And damn if Anders Larsson, recent addition to the Boston Bruins, hadn’t just fallen into her lap like a sign from God. (If Angela believed in God. The jury was still out.)
It had taken more than a little deception to find out his general daily schedule - or Angela assumed it had, she’d gotten her assistant Charity to do it and she didn’t want to know the details - but now that she had it, all she had to do was wait. Glancing at her watch, Angela reassured herself that yes, this was the right apartment building, and yes, Anders was scheduled to walk in after his workout with the team and maybe she could’ve called or something instead of resorting to trickery and threatening her assistant, but- but her musing was cut short as the man she assumed to be Anders walked in the door. Later, she’d consider that she could’ve spent maybe five minutes more on her approach but hey, she was under a lot of stress. “Hi there, hello, are you Anders Larsson? I’m Angela Alcott, and I have a pitch for you that I think might benefit us both in the end.”
