Juliette had always dreamed of the evening she’d attend her first ball.
She had it all planned out.
She’d wear a stunning pink gown, the finest jewels from some secret family collection, and the daintiest slippers. She’d have suitors falling at her feet, practically begging for her to marry them as she was deemed the diamond of the social season. And she would finally be absolutely at peace.
Sadly none of those things had materialized for her.
The gown was orange, the jewels nonexistent, and the slippers... well, she had dainty feet, so the slippers were bound to be dainty in the first place. And sadly, there were no suitors.
Yet.
“My dear Zasha,” she greeted as she sidled up to her closest and most dear friend. She’d managed to squeeze a few dances out of some of the gentlemen from the Shadow Realm, but by that point in the night her dance card had hit a few vacancies and she was ready to amuse herself in another way.
“Might you consider doing a turn about the room with me?”
